The evolved typewriter

Posted in Circuits, Computer, Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets, Robots by david on the November 23rd, 2007 at 6:00 am

This is the future for all of those unwanted typewriters, yes that is right all those old typewriters that have been abandoned by their owners and left in cupboards and basements are evolving into terminators.

tman

Or maybe it is just a piece of artwork which just happens to use all of the old components from a typewriter that was left lying around, it looks pretty cool and is an excellent use of an old piece of equipment.

I still prefer the first explanation!

DIY HACK - HOW TO Control an Arduino remotely with your browser!

Posted in Circuits, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Hack, LCD, LED, Microcontroller by max on the November 23rd, 2007 at 3:21 am

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

This is kinda cool way to control an LCD hooked up to Ardunino with browsers including your mobile phone.

In conclusion, this code may be pretty ragged, but the concept is what is important and it should be enough to get you started. You obviously can’t do anything too intense with this. It could be used to do some simple but cool things though such as controlling your house from your cell phone, or feeding your dog or cat over the internet, etc. Once again, please e-mail me if you need help getting it working for your project.

Coolermaster COSMOS - Spacey Design - ATX Case Review

Posted in Computer, Computer Case, Consumer, Gadgets by max on the November 22nd, 2007 at 11:52 pm

Coolermaster COSMOS - Spacey Design - ATX Case Review

Wow, check out this new awesome lookin’ Coolmaster COSMOS SPACEY Design ATX CASE! I’d love to have a sample, will they send us a sample? (This line does work by the way, we’ve gotten so many cool samples from various different companies…yey! DragonLasers is sending us their latest laser soon for review also….)

Weighing in at close to 17kg, empty, this is not a case you’ll haul around to LAN parties throughout the country, however you can be sure that what you install inside will be kept safe and cool. The Cosmos comes with 4x 120mm installed at different locations in the case.

You can install up to 7x 3.5” devices if you use the extra 5.25”>3.5” bay, otherwise the number is still an impressive 6 internal HDD bays. There are 5x 5.25” bays to fit a variety of CD/DVD and other 5.25” devices.

The case is large enough to fit ATX, a format used for most enthusiast motherboards on the market, but also Extended ATX boards, which makes this case a candidate for a high end workstation, where dual socket motherboards take up more room.

The world-famous Coca-Cola and Korean online games entered into a partnership.

Posted in Business, Computer, Consumer, Games, News, Online Games by max on the November 22nd, 2007 at 11:42 pm

The world-famous Coca-Cola and Korean online games entered into a partnership.

Coca Cola is partnering with Korean online games to promote online games through Coca Cola. I am guessing the one on the left is a representative from Coca Cola and the one on the right is probably the CEO of the Korean online games company???

Okay, here’s the answer:

For this purpose, KIPA dispatched Vice President Taek Min Kwon of the Digital Contents Business Group and working staff to Hong Kong and signed an MOU on joint promotion with Coca-Cola Hong Kong (General Manager Mei So) on the 15th. Korea-made online games will be marketed to Coca-Cola consumers in Hong Kong on the online platform.

CCleaner - Your Crap Cleaner

Posted in Computer, Freeware, Spyware Remover, Web by max on the November 22nd, 2007 at 11:37 pm

CCleaner

Check out the new Crap Cleaner, CCleaner. It may help you clean crap on your computer easily.

CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it’s fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

Several options are presented on the cleaner screen, allowing you to select the types of data you wish to remove from your PC. One tab lets you select Windows related files to remove, the other is a list of popular applications which are auto detected.

There are several reasons why you may want to clean your system. After using your PC for a long period of time it is quite likely that temporary files have accumulated which are no longer needed. For example the Windows temp directory can fill full of 100’s MB of unused files after enough use.

Secondly, CCleaner can remove all history traces left in many applications on your PC (such as Internet Explorer, FireFox, Document History, Media Player history etc…). These can all be wiped in the click of a button.

This is a great little gift or office set, when it is a solid one piece item it is easily storable and yet when taken apart there are a whole hose of hand office tools inside:

easygadget

These include a stapler, pencil sharpener, staple remover, sticky note and paperclip holder, calculator, and a digital alarm clock.

It can be stored away in a desk drawer, given away as secret Santa gift if the budget is high enough or maybe just get one for the kids they will love it!

Cyber snowman on your desk

Posted in Games, Household, LED, Robots, USB by david on the November 22nd, 2007 at 12:00 pm

It’s that time of year when all of those funny Christmas ideas come out, some of which will see a whole host of gadgets that do all sorts of things, but very rarely do anything useful.

usbsnowbot

The Think Geek Snowbot Features:
USB Powered (for great justice!)
Scanning LED Robotic Eye
Rate of sweeping is controllable via knob
Selectable LED Robotic Eye Colors (Blue or Red)
Authentic Snowbot Sound (on/off switch)
Rotating, articulating metal arms
Coiled (12″) USB cable extends to 30″

This is a nice but almost useless gadget which serves not purpose other than to have a good laugh while at your desk.

Priced at $9.99
