The USB Lighter

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets, USB by david on the November 4th, 2007 at 2:00 pm

Strange as it may seem this “Zippo” shaped lighter is charged up via the computers usb port. It’s a flameless lighter so there is no danger of setting things alight, or maybe there is I wouldn’t like to try.

The part where the flame or heat comes out, can be pushed in and then out of the bottom the usb connector pops out and therefore can then be placed into the port for charging.

This is an interesting concept for a lighter as it does not use flints, gas or fluid, but rather relies on a resistance coil which generates the heat. All they need to make now is an usb cigarette making machine!

What timing to launch a product which can not have too much of a life, what with smoking rapidly disappearing as a habit. I wonder if it can be used to light other things though from the design it does not look possible.
