It’s that time of year again
You can almost guarantee that there will be some crazy ideas coming out for the Halloween season and this one is no different at all, in fact it is very scary indeed.

Mind you I do not think encouraging to poke a pencil in an eye is very good idea, but seeing the shavings come out of the mouth that’s a different matter altogether. I do not suppose that there will be many parent allowing their kids to have one of these in their bedroom, in fact I doubt if it is even meant for them anyhow.
But at $2.99 that is just too scary!

Remember Chumby?
Here’s a cool video.
Meatbot-in-chief of RobotsRule, Robert Oschler, sent us this extremely silly vid of i-SOBOT interacting with the Eyeball Widget on the Chumby. There’s something very Marcel Duchamp for the 21st century about the whole thing.
Maker Faire in Texas

Check out some of the cool photos from Maker Faire Austin, Texas.
It doesn’t seem as fun as Maker Faire held in San Mateo couple months ago but this finger painting LCD is kinda cool, isn’t it?
Unusual finger mouse
This device can be used with any computer including laptops; it plugs into the USB port and attaches to the finger with a ring like attachment.
From that position the controls are operated by the thumb, which is probably going to take a bit of getting used to, but once mastered it could be very easy and accurate to use. However there may be a bit of finger wobble if it does not fit to good, i.e. either too big or too small.

Features:
USB interface, Plug-and-Play, no installation needed.
No mouse pad is required, just slide on any surface.
Ergonomical design - reduce fatigue effectively
Real hardware resolution 1200dpi - better buy for professional designers and game fans.
Standard 3 buttons - left key, right key, scroll button included
Digital encoder technology, operate precisely, prevent faulty movement effectively
Textile coating cable (not rubber coating) - enhance free and easy movement
Specifications:
Operation voltage: DC 5V
Button dynamics pressure: 60g+/-5g
Dimension: approx. 60 x 30 x 25 mm
Compatible with MS Windows 98/2000/me/XP/Mac OS 9 and above
Priced at $10.

No more bunches of keys
The Keyport is a great new device that comes with six blank keys which should be able to be cut into any shape that is required, though I fail to see how this will work, because different makes of lock have different styles of key, but there you go!
![]()
Each key is retractable into the case, which should mean that you will never have to carry around a bunch of keys in your pocket ever again. This is going to be a limited run of around 5000 units, so you had better get in there fast.
The Keyport will come in a choice of colours, pink, sliver, black and blue and is made from stainless steel.
Priced at $295 plus $75 for shipping.

Blow your car up!
No I am not talking about the things that bad people do, after all this is a Porsche, or is it?

As you can see this car is finished in bright red and has a strange sort of finish to it, looking almost similar to a beach ball or something!

That was a clue, this is the worlds first blow up Porsche sports car, unfortunately though there is very little information around that can give us any more details, clearly it is in an art gallery that would suggest that its a project of some sort.

I think that it’s pretty cool, and in fact I bet that if this became available on the market there would be many folks buying these just to leave them on the drive to make people think that they have got a nice sports car.

Huge Rubiks Cube Subwoofer

Wow, check out this cool Rubiks cube Subwoofer! I wish I had one… It seems like this guy has all the plans and everything so next time you need to hide your new sound system from your lover or somethin’…there’s ya go.
If you are wanting to add some bass to your home theater why build a Huge Rubik’s Cube Subwoofer! It isn’t as big as this gigantic subwoofer but it looks a lot more fun.

Total Weight w/o Speaker, wiring, Poly-fil, Amplifier: ~98 lbs.
Total Weight: ~144 lbs. It’s a beast, I must say, but before we begin how about some background information? My current system utilizes 2 Paradigm v3.0 Studio 100s (fronts), 1 CC-590 center, and 2 Studio 20s for 5.1 surrounds. Driving all that is an NAD T773, biamped with 2 NAD C272s for the fronts and discrete 7.1 inputs biamping the 20s - Long live the Canadian sound! Likewise, when I finally moved into my new apartment with space for a television (that’s a luxury in Boston) I wanted the extra kick for DVDs - what HT is complete without a sub? I’ll admit I’m a bit of a purest and can’t stomach the thought of attaching an external sub to my stereo so my search began for something that could rock the 60hz range in movies but neither force me to rewire every time I want to play a CD…
Being a huge fan of my Paradigms, I naturally went to the accompanying model for my Studio 100s - the Direct Servo 15. Despite making a great sub, I also played around with the option I eventually went with - making one. Reasons for this were two-fold - I hadn’t taken on any art pieces in a while and just having dropped first, last, security, etc for the new place I didn’t want to make a large purchase (insert your Alanis Joke here). Long story short, I chose to go with a Rythmik Audio Servo-15. One visit to Rythmik Audio’s website and you can see that these guys aren’t messing around.
