How to create a lightfish

Wow, check out these LED Lightfish! Haha, we have a new word, “Lightfish“. (When will they put it on Merrium and Webster encyclopedia?…I mean dictionary.)

How to create a lightfish2

Yes, that’s a simple hack, an LED and a 3V 2230 Battery…and rubberband of course. :p

And this looks pretty cool once installed inside the water. Hmmm…then again, we need autonomous fish that can swim around too kinda like these Autonomous Light Vessels:

Wow, one day we will be able to carry our cellphones with Word documents, presentations, and then we goto the meeting with this guy.

Unlike traditional projectors, the Pico Projector “prototype uses red, green, and blue lasers and a digital micromirror array (ultraminiaturized DLP technology) to pump out a bright picture.” Video after the break. Click here for additional images.

Let there be light

Posted in Business, Circuits, Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets by david on the September 20th, 2007 at 2:00 pm

Now this is a really neat little idea that could put some light on the subject! This torch is merely a nine volt battery with the business end of a torch fixed onto to it, this is one of those things that everyone could have made, but never got around to it.

Nine volt lights

These are handy to place in cupboards and drawers for emergencies as they do not take up much room. The torch bit has the light and a handy switch for turning it off; there are some devices that do not have this feature, so it is quite a neat idea.

Cost id expected to be around $10, not sure if battery included or not!

With this device you can cut a cake into slices of various sizes, which is great for people who only want a small piece of cake and then there are those who want more, but do not want to pick up two slices of cake.

DIY HACK - HOWTO run Multiple Virtual Domains on your MacBook Pro

Posted in Blog, Consumer, DoItYourself!, Educational, Hack, Projects, Web, Wordpress by max on the September 19th, 2007 at 2:22 pm

DIY HACK - HOWTO run Multiple Virtual Domains on your MAC

Here’s a cool hack on HOWTO run multiple virtual domains on your MacBook Pro. This might be helpful if you want to do some testing on your website or blog before goin’ live. Thanks Tames for the link. (By the way, I do have a 24″ iMAC…hehe…proud owner of MAC and PC.)

How to support multiple virtual domains on a Mac is a question I had after recently purchasing a Macbook Pro. Part of the motivation in that purchase being that I wanted to get all my development stuff onto a portable platform so I could “work” when I’m supposed to be on vacation or from some destination deep in jungles of a remote island in the South Pacific or the couch. What I found was a lot of information on how to get one website to work under Apache but not multiple sites without manually switching them, it was a real pain, but after a good bit of research and some trial and error, I’ve come up with a solution that works for me.

Check out the toast

Posted in Business, Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Funny, Gadgets by david on the September 19th, 2007 at 10:00 am

You are guaranteed never to have a burnt piece of toast ever again with the transparent toaster from the Concept Studio at Inventables. But before you get too excited the clue is in the company name, this is a concept device and as such does not really exist, unlike burnt toast which does exist.

glass toaster

However the design team are sure that when they build this, it will work, but we are talking about glass and heat, which is not a very good combination.

The idea is sound though because you would not need a settings switch, as you could cook your toast to perfection.

Strange food

Now for this you do not have to be pregnant but I am thinking that it may help. This delicious looking chocolate bar is real chocolate, that’s not the funny item, the thing that is funny or to some people it may not be funny at all. It’s the ingredients; this is pure chocolate heaven with real smoked bacon bits!

Smokey bacon flavoured chocolate

Yes this is Smokey bacon flavoured chocolate, mind you it is supposed to be nice, but I think I may give it a miss.

Mind you it is nice at $7 for a 3 oz bar.

It nice to have a bit of security around, it makes you feel comfortable and safe. But sometimes it is difficult to get away with carrying a weapon or even something that could be considered a weapon.
