Check out this awesome Robot Jockey, I’d say it’s one of the most creative robots ever built.

According to the designer, Martin Buehler, it’s a ”prototype jockey ridden hopping robot that controlled forward speed, hopping height, and pitch balance, the jockey did sideways balance and steering.” I had to read that sentence over about five times before it made sense, you too?

Phillips Color Changing RGB Lamps!

Phillips Color Changing Lamps3

Wow, check out these new color changing RGB Lamps! Although it’s not new tech, we give thumbs up for the design!

The lamp uses 4 LEDs, two red, one blue, and one green. By increasing, reducing, brightening or dimming each LED you get different colors!

The lamp uses a remote control so you can change LivingColors settings from anywhere in the room. What is smart on this remote is the fact that it remembers your last settings so you don’t need to reselect them.

The price for Philips LivingColors is £120.00. The product wasn’t release on the market, but you can preorder one from the Red5.co.uk shop.

iPhone update is just another brick in the wall

iPhone update is just another brick in the wall

Here’s some news you should consider before updating your iPhone. Apparently, you can end up with a bricked iPhone, meaning your iPhone will be useless.

I don’t know if this voids the warranty or whatnot but be careful before updating your iPhone.

A software update has, as promised, made hacked iPhones useless — “bricked” them, in the modern parlance. Worse yet, the new software has bricked some unmodified iPhones as well. And people are outraged. These are, of course, by and large the same saps who overpaid by $200 to buy their iPhones in June. And you know what? They’re getting what they deserve.

Check out this comical toilet flushing Lego Mindstorm robot. It’s hilarious!

They should install these at all the stalls in the airports. That’d trip out a lot of people. Maybe we can do a candid camera on top of it….hehe…

Tired of flushing your own toilet? Build a RoboFlush! RoboFlush is a simple Lego NXT Mindstorms Robot designed to flush a toilet automatically. It also comes with a manual flush option! Check out these instructions to build your own. Mike D’Amour came up with the idea, and Will Gorman built and documented RoboFlush.

Electrobike Pi - Hybrid Electric Bike

Electrobike Pi - Hybrid Electric Bike

At $7500, I’d probably get a real bike like a Suzuki GSX-R600 but this hybrid electric bike is cool since you can charge it within about 2-3 hours and goes upto 46mph. I wouldn’t want to go that fast in a bike like this though…

This blindingly red transporter “combines the lightweight portability of a bicycle with speed and self-propulsion more akin to a motorcycle,” as it includes a 36-volt pack of NiMH batteries that provides “about one horsepower” to the 58-pound device. The unit can be fully charged “from any standard household outlet in 2.5 to 3 hours and can run for 25 to 30 miles,” and according to a report from the LA Times, the 20mph maximum stock speed can be increased to around 46mph “with a little after-market hot rodding.” Granted, the base price on this thing is said to be around $7,500, so it looks like the most of us will have to stick with the trusty Huffy ten-speed for the time being.

PIC Microcontroller Touch Keypad

PIC Microcontroller Touch Keypad

Need a touch Keypad instead of the traditional 4×4 keypads? This might be the way to go.

The actual data from the touch sensors is quite erratic and requires some software processing. Basically you create a pulse for each of the ports and read the data with the instruction following the pulse signlal rise. Then read the ports the same way looking for a gap of 0.1 seconds with no data detected. This does the ‘debounce’. This results in fairly clean data capture from the sensors.

Underwater Cellphone Cover - Take your cellphone underwater!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, cell phones by max on the September 28th, 2007 at 10:46 am

Underwater Cellphone Cover

Underwater Cellphone Cover2

Now you can take your cellphone underwater with you with this underwater cellphone cover. How clever is that! Someone should have thought of this earlier.

It even allows you to take clear pictures! (goggles for your cell?)

I know the first picture is difficult to see as it is a translucent case on a white background…as we say in Japan, shouganai. Cell phone cameras are getting better so you can use them for taking photos once reserved for your pocket camera. For underwater shots, Corega gives us a waterproof case, the CG-WP-C10 and CG-WP-C20. The two cases are different sizes so one of them should fit your portable.
