More cool stuff for the Lance Evolution X:

GMAIL HACK - How to use gmail and filter spam for all your emails
The other day, I was getting so tired of so much spam on my zedomax mail account. So I researched some online email boxes including Google’s Gmail, Yahoo mail, and some others.
If found that GMail indeed does pretty good with spams. If they have the algorithm to filter out link farms and bogus spam sites, they must be able to spam my emails too.
Anyway here’s some simple steps for using gmail to filter spam and save your email server some bandwidth and the skip the painful steps of installing SpamAssasin
1) Get some coffee.
2) Get a GMail account first (if you don’t have one yet)
3) Go to your GMail homepage
4) Setup the POP settings. Set it to “Archive Gmail’s copy”.
5) Add ALL your emails like shown below:
6) Next if you use a client email software such as MS Outlook, Thunderbird, follow these directions and setup your email client to download new emails from gmail.
7) Now you get GMail spam-filtered email in your email client. You can always check your web browser Gmail for archive of all your email in the future.
If you have a PDA, set that up too and you get spam-free emails on the go.
HINT: If you can’t set the port number on your PDA, use “pop.gmail.com:995″ and “smtp.gmail.com:465″ for your sending and receiving servers.
DIY - How to make a noise-cancelling headphone!
Here’s a cool simple DIY on how to make a noise-free headphone without spending $349 on brand new Bose QuietComfort 3 Noise cancelling headphones.
These home-made hifi headphones work as well or better than Sony or Bose noise-cancelling headphones.
Cost: $20
Time to make: one minute.
Difficulty: none.
As seen in my article in Make Magazine volume 5
Unlike the commercial products, these block outside noise instead of cancelling it.
Listen to music or books on tape without hearing traffic noise, screaming babies, etc.
I’ve been making these for more than a decade. People sometimes ask “isn’t it dangerous not being able to hear?” No. Talking on a cellphone shuts off most of the brain whereas listening to headphones is no more dangerous than say, being deaf.
Lots of my friends use these units and no harm has come to anyone.
George Foreman iGrill

When I first saw George Foreman Grill on TV like 5 years ago or so, I was very skeptical. Although I have never had one before, many of my friends have owned one before and told me how well it cooked steaks. Well, I am sold, I just haven’t got one yet. Here’s the new George Foreman iGrill that you can stick in your iPod and play music while BBQing. George probably thought of this while making some steaks. Nice. Great job George! George Foreman has a built brand on his own name and without even purchasing one of his grills, I am totally sold. (No, i am not a sellout and never will be.)
Turn your backyard BBQ into an instant party with the iGrill from George Foreman. The iGrill has a 200 square inch nonstick grilling surface that is covered with George’s Tough Nonstick Coating. The included 10 watt speaker system plays your favorite tunes from your iPod, MP3 or other USB music system.

Here’s a cool Wii HACK someone made that unlocks a door! It uses FreeBSD, some type of bluetooth device, and Wiimote to make it a complete system. I bet you can use less parts. Will someone hack one again soon?
Mini Cooper Billboard in San Francisco

You can see this Mini Cooper Billboard in San Francisco on your way towards Bay Bridge. I guess this is actually RFID enabled which is kinda cool. Yes, it’s a very effective way of advertising as I do read it about 75% of the time that I pass by this spot looking for changes in what the Mini Cooper is saying… (mostly kinda stupid… one time it was saying something like “Be small and Go faster” or something) But it is indeed very creative. I don’t know if it actually can identify Mini drivers but I will try to see if the sign changes next time I see a Mini in front of me… (and take a video of course!)
The boards, which usually carry typical advertising, are programmed to identify approaching Mini drivers through a coded signal from a radio chip embedded in their key fob. The messages are personal, based on questionnaires that owners filled out: “Mary, moving at the speed of justice,” if Mary is a lawyer, or “Mike, the special of the day is speed,” if Mike is a chef.
