I went to the Silicon Valley Electronics Fleamarket in San Jose this morning. It was great, I wanted to buy everything! I was too busy looking at all the cool stuff to actually buy much. I’m definitely going to this every time they have it…next one is May 12th, 5am to noon. Here’s a Flickr photoset with some pictures and comments from the fleamarket.

Wow, check out this cool energy saving house!

The balcony rail is a solar vacuum tube to heat water. Photovoltaics on the roof rotate independently to track the sun, generating four to six times the energy needed for the house, making it beyond zero energy and into “das Plusenergiehaus” or a “Plus-energy House.” If that is not enough, there is on-site composting, chemical free sewage treatment and rainwater catchment.

Because the inside was foam, I needed more internal structure and decided to fiberglass it. As awful as fiberglass is to deal with, it sure is strong stuff, and would allow drilling, etc., for the components and cords without fear of everything caving in.

Wow, check out this Dark restaurant in Beijing, China where you must eat all your food in total darkness and waiters/waitresses wear night-vision googles to find their way around… I guess there a Dark Restaurant in Australia and in Germany too where some of the waiters are blind.

The first dark restaurant in Asia is officially opened on the 23 December 2006. This restaurant, located in Beijing, China, has its interior painted completely black. Customers are greeted by a brightly lit entrance hall and will be escorted by waiters wearing night vision goggles into the pitch dark dining room to help them find their seats. Flashlights, mobile phones and even luminous watches are prohibited while in this area. The meal will be taken in this environment with the complete loss of vision. By starving one’s sense, your other senses are stimulated to full alert – all so the theory goes – and your food will taste like it’s never tasted before. Check out these cool flowboards, the next generation of skateboards. I don’t know how well you can balance yourself on one of these new skateboards with 7 WHEELS per truck. But you know that Bush doesn’t want you to take his away from him. Well, we will just have to get one soon and start doing some crazy nollies near downtown SF…

Tight, here’s SnoDeck, a motorized snow skateboard! Although you can do nollie or take it to your nearest swimming pool for some crazy ghetto half pipes, at least you can go out in the snow and enjoy ridin’ around before the snow melts. (if the snow melts that is, but if it doesn’t, this might be a permanent solution for your cool weather)
