Google Dress Code

Google Dress Code

Cool, it looks like Google’s dress code is laid back.

After all of this, I do have to admit that my new career experience at Google (week six as I write this) has got me a little wrapped around the axle however, as the vast majority of Google employees simply wear jeans and t-shirts to work. And those really bad boots — I think they call them Uggs.

Music Sofa

Check out this cool space-age music sofa. I wonder how it balances…

Designed by Giongkun Wuqiongkun, this curved seat has enough cushions to keep you comfy, but also packs in a CD player for pumping the tunes to the large built-in speaker units. And if that’s not enough for you, it’s also got wireless functionality, so you can pull in tunes from elsewhere if you wish.

Samsung USB Monitor coming soon

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Government, Video, magic by max on the March 26th, 2007 at 4:43 pm

Samsung USB Monitor coming soon

Cool, Samsung is making some new USB monitors. I wonder if they are going to be powered by USB. Probably not at 5V… But it’d be cool if you could daisy link couple USB monitors together using some USB cables…

The best thing is that these USB monitors will not require any graphics card. tight tech…

Samsung has introduced what it claims is the world’s first USB-connected display, which also needs no graphics card.

The UbiSync LCD monitor has a 19-inch 1280-by-1024 screen that uses a software graphics adapter which it downloads to the PC when it is plugged into a USB 2.0 port.

Samsung senior vice president Ha Yoon-ho suggested that UbiSync would be ideal for laptop users wanting a second display, and for workers who need multiple PC screens. It includes a four-port USB hub, so up to five monitors can be connected via a single USB port on the PC.

Check out this cool RC controlled steam beetle.

The first issue with the weight started in the wheels and tires. I replaced the stock tires and wheels to 2.2, but immediately encountered flat tires, especially when crawling. The stock foam can not support the weight, and the tires basically were always compressed, with the rim of the wheels grounded. This also made it impossible to turn at all. I found the foam solution by replacing the tire foams with extra large pool noodles. These have the correct outer diameter, and only required the inner hole to be trimmed to fit the rims. RC4WD provided me with a set of really sweet bead locks, and these really helped in holding the foam and tire in place, bolts to both sides of the rims. These aluminum wheels are really nicely machined, and fit perfectly.

Solar Lawnmower

Solar Lawnmower 2

Okay, I’ve finally been able to stay away from the computer thanks to my girlfriend. But we are back for some more hacks and DIYs.

Check out these cool solar lawnmower robots and mop robot if you don’t want to spend $200 on a Roomba. You could probably make these inventions a little bit smart by adding a programmable controllers such as CUBLOC or Make controllersArduino would be good too.

Solar Lawnmower robot: tired to cut your grass? you have just to press a button and the robot do the job for you. Once the job done and the robot stopped, it’s internal battery is solar charged: no cost. The solar lawnmower robot is very quiet and make about the same noise as an electric razor!

-Mop robot: tired to use mop to wash your floors? Throw away you mop: use mop robot, add a bit of water, some liquid soap and just press the button: the robot is stupid, slow but it does the job alone and quietly.
