Wicked. :) I’ve bookmarked your site and going to link it from my own site when I’m home again. For now I should thank you. I was playing WoW whilst at McDonalds last night, using someone else’s unprotected network. I changed their Wireless Router to another channel and it worked perfectly. :)

Yes, I know, it’s illegal and stupid to do it. But face it, some people are stupid enough not to do the RTFM thing and turn WEP on. (Ok, a bit stupid on my end, coz that’s not secure either.). But I also did something nice. I copied their MAC addresses and set their router to filter to only allow the 3 addresses I found.

You might want to make a long rant ‘n rave about security of networks of people who don’t even bother protecting it. (unless you’ve posted it already and I missed it.) Especially the part on changing passwords as soon as they get such a device, make a long WEP password (16 chars and up) and install their router behind a firewall or something like that. :)

Cheerios.

Haha, yes, the security of networks need to be changed. Maybe if everyone shared their wireless networks, it might work all right. Just make same WEP passwords so it’s encrypted yet everyone can use. We are really wasting a lot of technology by having so many wireless networks just floating everywhere and some are not used at all…

Sharing networks.. well, I’m not so sure about that idea. I remember when I got cable internet a loooong time ago and Sonera Plaza (currently UPC in the Netherlands) opened their network. I bet you can understand the fun we had during those times. Remember those most used passwords they mentioned in the movie Hackers? Wasn’t a joke, people seriously used such passwords.. ugh..

I might have an idea of why the infrastructure of networking sucks so much but then I’d go conspiracy and I’m not sure if that’s a wise thing to write about. (hehehe) But as long as there’s people using such networks and not protecting them, I can play with my Horde characters. ;)

Well, yeah, I guess best thing to do this get a Wireless Broadband card, which are pretty fast these days. I’ve been testing with a couple, and they seemed to do all kinds of tricks.
