Video - Robotic Parking Garage

Posted in Auto, Consumer, Cool, Robots, Video by max on the November 21st, 2006 at 4:09 pm

Robotic parking garage has been around for couple years now, here’s a good video about it.

Short CNN news spot about a robotic parking garage in New Jersey constructed by Robotic Parking. The reporter goes inside so that we get to see how a robotic parking garage works and even get to see some cars moving around inside the garage.

Why are you not sleeping well? Sleeptracker will tell you

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Storage by max on the November 21st, 2006 at 3:14 pm

Looks like a cool gadget that will automatically keep track of when you are sleeping and how much sleep you actually get!

This product really was a pleasant surprise. Most of the things we review at Gear Live are gadgets with interesting or fun gimmicks that make them must-haves or horrible failures. The thing about the SLEEPTRACKER is that it doesn’t provide anything “fun” or “cool” per se. Instead, they have developed a product that actually improves your quality of life. Waking up fully energized on a daily basis is just amazing. It is almost as if there is no lost time, and you just want to seize the day. The product did exactly what it said it would do, and because of that, it gets our highest honor. This one comes very highly recommended.

Sell your old cellphone to therecyclingfactory.com

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Earth, Gadgets, cell phones by max on the November 21st, 2006 at 3:05 pm

Here’s a site that will pay for your old cellphones instead of letting them become part of your family treasure. Save earth and recycle your old phones and get some CASH$$$

Even a two year old mobile, despite lacking this year’s glamorous features, is chock-full of useful components and elements that go into next year’s mobile. Likewise, the parts of ink cartridges that wear out are, by skilled hands, fairly easy to replace and turn back into useful little pots of C, M, Y or K. That’s where The Recycling Factory comes in: they pay cold cash for your garbage (or you can donate it to charity, or have it applied as credit against getting more ink). Since mobiles often contain nasty chemicals that it’s bad to have leach into the tip, you’re doing the planet a favour as well as getting yourself a few extra quid to spend on the holidays (or hols for yourself - you needn’t be perfect).

Spy Stuff - Zippo Camera

Nice! Here’s the Zippo camera that you can take it to the clubs with you. It’s packed with 64MB for 100 640×480 resolution pictures. Which isn’t much but enough for you to take pictures at the shopping mall without the workers nagging at you to not to.

DIY - Message Machine for your Pets

Posted in Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Entertainment, Microcontroller by max on the November 21st, 2006 at 12:34 pm

http://zedomax.com/image/200611/catmessage.gif

Here’s a cool message machine you can make for your dog or cat to let him or her know “you are on the way”, “talk to me”, or “XO” (kisskiss i think).  Interesting to note that this is for a “wireless toy” midterm?  Wow, things have changed a lot since last time I was in college.  That doesn’t sound like midterm at all, looks fun! :)

Chatter uses the Plushie Message Framework (chat-parsing script to Arduino to wireless module) to send selected instant messages from your computer to the message pillow. Often times I leave my message client open just to get that “emotional check-in” or other brief snippet from my sweetheart, but I don’t want messages from anyone else. With the Chatter Pillow, I just alter a few parameters in the script to filter all but three messages from him: “xo,” “on my way,” and “talk to me.” That way I can be on the couch or ready for bed and still get the message. The pillow lights up with the appropriate symbol indicating whether he’ll be home soon or if I should make my way to the computer to answer a question.
