HOWTO make a free wifi booster

Here’s a free wifi booster via techeblog. It seems like the wifi boost is very insignificant but it might do good for someone like me who has very bad wifi signals in my bedroom… Instead of buying a wifi booster, this can seem like a good alternative that only uses some paper and aluminum foil. Well, we will have to try it out and see if it reall works though…

Nintendo DS MP3 coming soon…

Posted in Consumer, Entertainment, Gadgets, Games by max on the November 22nd, 2006 at 10:30 pm

http://zedomax.com/image/200611/nintendomusic.jpg

Users will be able to play MP3s on the Nintendo DS soon. SD card will be supported for
memory, but the downside is that it can play videos… Well, that might be good enough for
some but it would be nice to be able to hack it and make it do more…

There’s no word on price but we will get it up on zedomax as soon as anyone hears a word.

Zedomax Thanksgiving DIYs - Cooking for Engineers and Paper Turkeys

Posted in Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Entertainment, Funny by max on the November 22nd, 2006 at 8:49 pm

Here’s a cool site with thanksgiving howtos ranging from turkey, gravy, cranberries, potatoes, and pumpkin pies. He has a very nice ingredient chart made especially for engineers. As an engineer myself (don’t want to be), this might turn out to be a good site to get ideas on how to cook turkey.

Author of the site: (It seems his resume is more for hacking, not cooking but I think engineers are good cooks by nature, cooking and engineering are similar, sometimes you have to improvise just like in cooking and engineering…)

Michael Chu lives in the heart of Silicon Valley just south of the San Francisco Bay Area in California, United States. He has worked as a network engineer, software programmer, PDA hardware designer, computer vision researcher, and, most recently, notebook hardware application engineer. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science from the College of Engineering at University of California, Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Besides cooking and dining, Michael enjoys photography, indoor rock climbing, and gaming (video, computer, and board games - but not gambling).

Make blog also has many articles on how to make your own paper turkey!
Check out their Paper Turkey HOWTO video, hacking paper turkey, fold your own paper turkey, and more howtos.
Bre at Make has some cool podcasts for this holidays.

PS3 Picture sold for over $1000!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Gadgets, Games, ps3 by max on the November 22nd, 2006 at 8:22 pm

http://zedomax.com/image/200611/ps3ps3.jpg

I have heard that a PS3 on ebay has been sold for almost $10,000 but a picture sold for $1000???
This is absurd yet it is true that PS3 is really taking over our world. What to do next is up to you,
but tonight, zedomax crew will actually get to enjoy playing some PS3 games, yes, we have a PS3!
Well, actually we are renting it for one night but, that’s good enough for us, we will have to buy one
when all the craze slows down a little…
Check out the article on techeblog for proof.

Water Bubble Sphere made!

Posted in Cool, Educational, Video, magic by max on the November 22nd, 2006 at 6:15 pm

According to the speaker on video, puffs of air radially are directed at the water to make this water sphere as big as the author’s head. Very interesting to note, this might have some good uses, such as allowing your pet fish to travel with you in a bubble. How is that for a future gadget?  Please leave comments for any thoughts for future gadget uses for this.

Useful technology, overpriced - OnStar for GM, Chevy vehicles

Posted in Auto, Consumer, Gadgets, Travel, Wireless by max on the November 22nd, 2006 at 4:42 pm

http://zedomax.com/image/200611/onstar.jpg

Here’s a useful technology that I personally have on my car because I couldn’t opt out unless I got
the car with it. The news that OnStar could go black for millions of analog subscribers in ‘08 tells
only one story, that a useful technology that is overpriced might become useless and still overpriced.
I am not bagging on GM for having provided one of the first useful technology to track cars, unlock
cars, and all the bit-bang features that they have been able to do. It’s just that they have not
been able to predict the future which is bluetooth headset enabled phones and all the GPS tracking
devices
available.

Here’s a comment from engadget that I do agree with:

On Star is ridiculous. They are very limited in providing help. My car came with a free 6 month trial but I didn’t bother renewing. You can sign up for a real Personal Assistant or Concierge Service and pay much less. I call my PA and have them do anything and everything for me. This company never advertises on t.v., they rely on word of mouth so I’m doing my part, check them out www.RedButler.com - Cheers, Jen

Sony PS3 6 Axis Joystick Controller

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Gadgets, Games, ps3 by max on the November 22nd, 2006 at 4:09 pm

Here’s a cool video of Sony’s new PS3 6 Axis Remote-Controller, it seems like they have taken all parts of our DIYs including bluetooth controller, the accelerometer, and a joystick to make it a complete remote-control system.

We now have a good idea, maybe we will just make our own 6 axis Joystick bluetooth controller… What are your thoughts? Leave a comment! :)
