I would love to build my own, but I have never done anything like this. What about using a DJ light controller for christmas lights? They are sound activated, and have chasers. Can this be used in the same application?
Thanks

Hey guys - love the light controller's you've designed & posted in the DIY's! Any chance you can do one with low voltage (DC) LED's and not only voice activated but also adjustable dimming rampup/ramp down programmable in software? That would ROCK!

Hey guys - love the light controllers you've designed! Any interest in doing one that uses LED's (youu know, like the cheap LED X-mas light strings) and not only has voice activation, but also allows dimming ramp up / ramp down that can be controlled in software. That would be AWESOME!

[...] Here is a simple circuit to control 110VAC things such as Christmas Lights with low voltage audio. Be careful, high voltage AC can kill you. Zedomax has also made a cool voice activated Christmas light controller that is real cool! “The basic Idea was to have Christmas lights flash with the music. In my design I use an ordinary amplified computer speaker, a diode bridge, and a ‘CRYDOM’ SSR (Solid State Relay). In order to increase the time that the lights were on as well as protect the SSR I used a Diode Bridge to rectify the signal from the amplifier circuit.” [...]

[...] Amazing collection of comptuerized Christmas Light displays syncing to music. I think these are scripted though and costs a fortune. But maybe someone can hack one out of our DIYs and some OP amps which could keep the cost down… Well, if we had the time, we’d do it ourselves…wait, maybe we can make it! Any ideas or links on how to accomplish this would be appreciated! [...]
